Atiyah-Hitchin in Five Dimensional Einstein-Maxwell Theory

We construct exact solutions to five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory based on Atiyah-Hitchin space. The solutions cannot be written explicitly in a closed form, so their properties are investigated numerically. The five-dimensional metric is regular everywhere except on the location of original bolt in four-dimensional Atiyah-Hitchin base space. On each time-fixed slices, the metric, asympt...

Rough Solutions of the Einstein Constraint Equations

We construct low regularity solutions of the vacuum Einstein constraint equations. In particular, on 3-manifolds we obtain solutions with metrics in Hs loc with s > 3 2 . The theory of maximal asymptotically Euclidean solutions of the constraint equations descends completely the low regularity setting. Moreover, every rough, maximal, asymptotically Euclidean solution can be approximated in an a...

Non-cmc Solutions to the Einstein Constraint Equations on Asymptotically Euclidean Manifolds with Apparent Horizon Boundaries

In this article we further develop the solution theory for the Einstein constraint equations on an n-dimensional, asymptotically Euclidean manifold M with interior boundary Σ. Building on recent results for both the asymptotically Euclidean and compact with boundary settings, we show existence of far-from-CMC and near-CMC solutions to the conformal formulation of the Einstein constraints when n...

Maxwell gravity

The complete on-shell action of topological Einstein-Maxwell gravity in four-dimensions is presented. It is shown explicitly how this theory for SU(2) holonomy manifolds arises from four-dimensional Euclidean N = 2 supergravity. The twisted local BRST symmetries and twisted local Lorentz symmetries are given and the action and stress tensor are shown to be BRST-exact. A set of BRST-invariant to...

Non-cmc Solutions of the Einstein Constraint Equations on Compact Manifolds with Apparent Horizon Boundaries

In this article we continue our effort to do a systematic development of the solution theory for conformal formulations of the Einstein constraint equations on compact manifolds with boundary. By building in a natural way on our recent work in Holst and Tsogtgerel (2013), and Holst, Nagy, and Tsogtgerel (2008, 2009), and also on the work of Maxwell (2004, 2005, 2009) and Dain (2004), under reas...
